President Biden Releases FY2023 Budget Request
The Biden Administration released its FY2023 budget request proposal, providing Congress funding recommendations and priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. Included in the budget proposal was nearly $49 billion for the NIH, including $5 billion for ARPA-H, $10.5 billion for the NSF, and $916 million for the VA Medical and Prosthetics Research Program.

Americans for Medical Progress (AMP) is hosting Biomedical Research Awareness Day (BRAD) on Thursday, April 21. BRAD is an international outreach program that seeks to increase public awareness about animal roles in biomedical research, including that of non-human primates, and the resulting medical advancements that benefit both humans and animals.

A Rare Salamander Could Change How We Treat Spinal Cord Injuries

The 8th annual BRAIN Initiative Meeting: Open Science, New Tools being held from June 21-22, 2022, is now going hybrid. The Eppendorf & Science Prize for Neurobiology awards $25,000 annually to one young scientist (35 or younger) for outstanding neurobiological research based on methods of molecular and cell biology conducted in the past three years. The deadline for this year's entry is June 15, 2022.
The 12th annual Art of Neuroscience competition is now open for submissions. The Art of Neuroscience is an international competition open to scientists and artists worldwide. The deadline for this year's competition is May 15, 2022. The winner will be awarded € 1.000, and € 250 will be awarded to each to four honorable mentions. Submissions can include images or videos representing actual neural data or tissue, but also more abstract visualizations, sculptures or even musical scores that are in some way related to concepts about nervous tissue, the brain or cognition. Nominations for Einstein Foundation Award are now open. Researchers working to increase the transparency and robustness of scientific results, for example through replication studies and open science approaches, can apply for the Einstein Foundation Award 2022. The international price is awarded in three categories: to individual researchers, to institutions (each €200K), and to early career researchers (€100K). Read about the requirements, the winners in 2021, and the jury at einsteinfoundation.de/award. Deadline for applications and nominations is April 30, 2022.
