FY2022 Appropriations Complete
Congress passed, and President Biden has signed the FY2022 omnibus spending bill, five and half months after the start of the new fiscal year. The NIH received $45 billion, an increase of $2.25 billion (5.3%) above the FY2021 enacted level, including $1 billion for ARPA-H. The NSF received $8.84 billion, an increase of $351 million (4%) above FY2021, the largest increase in 12 years.

Call for Nominations: 2022 Awards and Prizes
The nomination period for SfN’s many named awards and prizes opens next Tuesday, March 29. Plan to nominate an exceptional trainee, colleague, or mentor
Call for Nominations for ALBA-FKNE Diversity Prize are now open. The ALBA-FKNE Diversity Prize recognizes the efforts of individual scientists in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the brain sciences through advocacy, mentorship or the implementation of DEI initiatives and policies. This year, the focus will be on contributions by junior researchers who are based in Europe. Applications from students, postdocs, technicians, research associates and staff scientists will be considered. The call for nominations will close on April 4 and the award will be presented at the FENS Forum in Paris on July 11.
Nominations for Einstein Foundation Award are now open. Researchers working to increase the transparency and robustness of scientific results, for example through replication studies and open science approaches, can apply for the Einstein Foundation Award 2022. The international price is awarded in three categories: to individual researchers, to institutions (each €200K), and to early career researchers (€100K). Read about the requirements, the winners in 2021, and the jury at einsteinfoundation.de/award. Deadline for applications and nominations is April 30, 2022.
The 12th annual Art of Neuroscience competition is now open for submissions. The Art of Neuroscience is an international competition open to scientists and artists worldwide. The deadline for this year's competition is May 15, 2022. The winner will be awarded € 1.000, and € 250 will be awarded to each to four honorable mentions. Submissions can include images or videos representing actual neural data or tissue, but also more abstract visualizations, sculptures or even musical scores that are in some way related to concepts about nervous tissue, the brain or cognition.
